The Nature Center will be the centerpiece of new development at Catoctin Creek Park and will feature a discovery room for exhibits along with two large program rooms to supplement outdoor education offered by Frederick County Public Schools. Orientation of the building offers access to Catoctin Creek for study and pleasure.
The building will be designed with sustainable materials, energy efficient lighting, and a geothermal HVAC system. A vegetated “green” roof will be accessible to visitors and the building's green features will be showcased to introduce the public to environmentally sustainable building concepts.
