The goal of this project was to design a stimulating environment in which Frederick County Public
School students may learn about the Earth and Space Sciences. The facility will include a
museum-style Welcome Garden, a Planetarium, classrooms with labs, and office space.
A built-in geology wall, stream/pond exhibit, and aquaria displays add interest to the corridors.
In keeping with the school’s environmental curriculum, the facility was designed with sustainability
in mind. A geothermal HVAC system and photovoltaic panels will contribute to energy savings and
will also be used as educational tools for visiting students, staff, and community members. |
