Renovation of Gothic Dairy Barn
Dickerson, Maryland
Construction Cost: $570,000
Completion Date: April 1998

The former Matthews Farm is located in Dickerson, Maryland. In 1991, the Montgomery County Council designated the farm's gothic dairy barn as a historic structure requiring preservation. The facility now houses a community center and offices for the Sugarloaf Citizens Association.

Renovation included repair and refinishing of exterior structures, such as the silo and creamery, as well as a connecting wing and breezeway. The interior of the barn was renovated to accommodate community meetings, classrooms, and an exhibition area for display of some of the building's historic artifacts.
