NEW EDUCATIONAL FACILITY FOR:

earth and space science lab

FREDERICK, MARYLAND

COMPLETION DATE: 2009

$3,088,120 | 10,624 SF

The goal of this project was to design a stimulating environment in which Frederick County Public School students may learn about the Earth and Space Sciences. The facility includes a museum-style Welcome Garden, a Planetarium, classrooms with labs, and office space. A built-in geology wall, stream/pond exhibit, and aquarium displays add interest to the corridors.

In keeping with the school’s environmental curriculum, the facility was designed with sustainability in mind. A geothermal HVAC system and photo-voltaic panels contribute to energy savings and are also used as educational tools for visiting students, staff, and community members.
