HOW WE DO IT
At Proffitt & Associates, our goal is bringing your vision to life. To truly understand what you want from a space, we ask targeted questions, and we listen to what you say. We believe the best design occurs when the client and architect work closely together. Tell us what you want, then let us use our expertise to make it happen.
We speak your language...
For most of our clients, building design, renovation, or fit-out work is not their primary area of expertise. The process can be stressful, and trying to make sense of a conversation laced with industry jargon or not knowing which questions to ask (or when) doesn't help. It doesn't have to be this way. Our team at Proffitt & Associates is dedicated to guiding you through your project - from first sketches to final walk-through - using real-world language and open communication. No more confusion, no more fear of the unknown, no dictionary needed.
We use technology...
We use a variety of programs, including Revit and AutoCAD, to create design and construction documents for our clients. The appropriate software is selected based upon each project's needs. Technology such as Revit (also called BIM - Building Information Modeling) lets us create a 3-dimensional prototype of your design, allowing you to easily visualize each part of the design process. Creating a model permits integration of multiple disciplines and assists in overall design coordination, which not only improves your final product, but improves your bottom line as well.
Proffitt & Associates has provided architectural and interior design services to a wide variety of public and private clients from our offices in historic dowtown Frederick since the firm was founded in 1973 by Mr. Landon Proffitt (retired), father of Michael L. We are a woman-owned, progressive design organization which aims to provide consistent, efficient and beautiful professional solutions, focused on exceeding the expectations of both our clients and their end users.
Over the past 46 years, our portfolio has grown to include projects with: public-school systems, colleges and universities, government entities, healthcare systems, contractors, land developers, and local businesses. We currently have 8 employees and are licensed to serve clients in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Washington D. C. and Pennsylvania.
MICHAEL L. PROFFITT
Michael Landon Proffitt served as principal architect and president of Proffitt & Associates from 1991 to 2017. An active volunteer and supporter of the Frederick Rescue Mission, Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center, Downtown Frederick Partnership, Frederick Area Committee for Transportation, and the Rotary Club of Carroll Creek, Michael worked tirelessly toward his goal of making Frederick a better place to work and play.
Michael's steadfast commitment to his employees and customers established our firm's reputation for quality and excellence, and is a continued, driving force behind our success today. Although he is deeply missed, Michael's legacy lives on through our dedication to and leadership in Frederick.
